Sara’s ME&MY contest reveal at Creator Day proves to be a huge hit with Supporters and fellow creatives alike
Last weekend, LaCie’s COLLECTIVE and Sara Dietschy attended Buffer Festival–a movie festival that takes place annually in Toronto, Ontario. The festival showcases exclusive premieres from the world’s acclaimed electronic founders.
Lots of the founders run prominent YouTube channels, like Sara.
With nearly 400k readers on YouTube alone, Sara retains her audience engaged by rolling out creative and educational content on a constant basis.
Additionally, her character is infectious.
“We attracted on Sara as community host and co-producer of the Resident Pro competition series due to her infectious and lively character as well as her obvious experience. If you check her out YouTube station or her podcast, The Creative Exchange, you’ll see that she interviews people in their creative process and strategy in order to understand their prognosis and process. We wanted to deliver all of that goodness to our COLLECTIVE community, but also give it a unique twist. ”

LaCie’s online COLLECTIVE community provides digital creatives unique opportunities to learn new skills from some of the world’s renowned founders, like Sara, then turn around and use that learning to make content and input contests designed by those founders.
Sara Dietschy + COLLECTIVE + a Brand-new competition
This past Sunday at Buffer, Sara presented a Creator Masterclass to a crowd of both established and emerging movie founders. She revealed herself to be an avid instructor as she discussed the kinds of successful electronic content, how to develop a first audience, and also how to tell a compelling narrative in a 10 to 15 minute movie. On the way, she –and comedically–provided editing strategies for documentary-style video.
Sara wrapped up her Creator Masterclass by declaring her partnership with COLLECTIVE and her ME&MY competition –established that day exclusively on the platform.
“I have the honor and privilege to associate with Lacie this year. Theyrsquo;re actually doing something very cool where they encourage a brand new Creator to the community each six weeks to throw away a competition. I’m formally launching my competition at this time, and it’s to do with documentary filmmaking, and essentially –what that you heard now, I want you men to put it to the test. ”
Her competition gives filmmakers an opportunity to challenge their competence at telling a compelling story in 5 minutes or less. She has set the competition, and are the judge.
LaCie places over hard drives to the hands of creatives
COLLECTIVE competitions give emerging creatives a rare opportunity to expose their work to a global community and have it examined by renowned creators in their industry. Competition winners can score coveted studio swag and rewarding project grants.

Back at Buffer at a grand way
As Scott Benzie, CEO of Buffer Festival explains: “We’ve identified a few companies that actually support the Creator community in meaningful ways. We developed The Grand Patron app to comprehend these corporations who have demonstrated their willingness to put funds into the hands of their Creators who are driving their messaging, and there are no better examples of this than Samsung Canada and LaCie.
LaCie was a Gold Partner sponsor at last year’s festival. For Buffer Festival 2018, LaCie leveled up to Grand Patron standing to further champion emerging movie founders and support the global creative community.
“We strengthened our partnership with Buffer to deepen our involvement with all of their showcased creators and fans, and to amplify and empower their own advocacy for LaCie. Buffer’s audience of filmmakers and digital content creators is the sweet spot for COLLECTIVE, which can be LaCie’s exclusive online creative community that supports and champions emerging creative talent. ”
